Area VIVA!

What makes an area alive?

Let's consider a territory in Puglia, the Itria Valley, in particular a municipality of this place, rich in history and legends, Locorotondo.
Walking through the streets of its historic center in the middle of the morning, you are fascinated by the calm that this place emanates, despite this, the village comes to life and moves hastily between the streets and the small squares that are part of it.
Every sense is inebriated: the pupils narrow due to the light diffused by the white plaster; the voices coming from the houses, from the balconies, from the roofs of the cummerse blend together and become white noise, relaxing; the contact with the ground, with the red earth, with the shiny "chianche" of the village allow you to feel part of a whole; taste and smell walk in unison between the smell of sauce and basil.
All this is the life of the village: nervous pulsation between the synapses, meeting towards the central nucleus, the Church of San Giorgio Martire.
Then the sun sets and evening comes. If you find yourself in this area in the first days of August, there is only one guarantor that re-ignites the machine of action and movement: the VIVA! Festival.

What would happen if the area shut down for a moment?

This work moves on these questions with the aim of making the area actually alive, in conjunction with the days of the International Festival VIVA!.
All this has allowed us to conceive and design an artistic installation, in the village of Locorotondo, that manages to combine tradition and innovation, during the VIVA! Festiva, relevant for artistic and cultural topics.
